PORR was founded in Vienna in 1869. We are now a leading construction company in Austria and offer all construction services from a single source. In addition to our headquarters in Vienna, we have branches, construction yards and subsidiaries throughout all federal states.

Our experience and solution expertise make us a reliable partner, especially for complex projects in the general contractor and total contractor sectors. Numerous patents testify not only to our broad range of services, but also to our innovative strength. We contribute to bitumen and concrete research as well as to the development of new technologies. For example, the slab track system has been well established in Austria for more than 20 years.

Our pioneering achievements include Wilhelminian-style buildings such as the Parliament in Vienna, the Grossglockner High Alpine Road, the Tauern and Koralm tunnels, and the Kaprun pumped storage power plant.

With its headquarters in Munich, a total of eight branches, three Equipment Services locations and other subsidiaries, PORR has a strong presence in Germany.

The implementation of tunnel construction contracts for Deutsche Bahn in the 1980s marked the start of our activities in the German market. The gradual takeover of Radmer Bau Aktiengesellschaft in Munich laid the foundation for the first branch in Germany. PORR Deutschland GmbH was founded in 2006. Since then, activities have been continuously expanded. Based on our consistent growth strategy, we have significantly expanded our market position in Germany – PORR's second most important market – in recent years. Thanks to comprehensive cooperation within the Group, we offer our customers in Germany the full range of services provided by the construction group: from building construction and civil engineering to infrastructure construction and environmental technology.  

Project development services complement the extensive product range. The Resources division – which combines sand and gravel extraction, processing and distribution – rounds off PORR's broad range of services in Germany.

Switzerland is one of the PORR Group's home markets. PORR SUISSE AG has continuously strengthened its market position in recent years. The company entered the Swiss market in the early 1970s. PORR acquired a stake in Walker & Söhne AG, Altdorf, a construction company mainly active in civil engineering. The company was soon renamed ‘Walker-Porr AG’. PORR subsequently acquired all shares.

Since 2000, the company has been operating under the name PORR SUISSE AG. In 2001, a branch office was opened in Zurich, which is now the headquarters for services as a general and total contractor in building construction. The first contract as a general contractor soon followed. Since 2014, this area has been particularly promoted. The headquarters in Altdorf is the centre for civil engineering, infrastructure and tunnel construction. Notable projects in the context of the NEAT (New Railway Link through the Alps) and in tunnel construction stand out in particular.

Today, PORR SUISSE AG is well established in the Swiss market and has significantly expanded its portfolio, particularly in the area of general and total contracting for building construction. Projects in infrastructure and tunnel construction continue to play a central role. With more than 270 qualified employees, many years of experience and forward-looking expertise, PORR is also a reliable partner in Switzerland for the realisation of demanding projects.

PORR has had its own branch in Poland since 1993. Today, we are present on the market as PORR S.A. In 2017, two companies that had previously operated as independent entities merged: PORR Polska Construction S.A.'s core competence lay in building construction and railway construction, while PORR Polska Infrastructure S.A. specialised in infrastructure, energy and civil engineering. With our locations in Warsaw, Gdynia, Poznań, Kraków and Wrocław, we are able to meet local market requirements.

Based on decades of market experience, a high level of expertise and excellent know-how, we have established ourselves as an international provider in the fields of building construction, railway, bridge and road construction. PORR now has high-quality expertise in all areas of the construction industry.

PORR a.s. has been operating as a full-service provider in the Czech Republic since 1991. With our headquarters in Prague and additional locations in Brno, Budweis and Tlumačov, among others, we manage projects in the areas of building construction, civil engineering and foundation engineering.

Through mergers with other companies in the industry, we have succeeded in significantly expanding our product portfolio in the Czech Republic and covering the entire spectrum of the construction industry in our range of services. Our comprehensive presence ensures short distances to construction sites and optimal support for our customers throughout the country.  

In addition, our road construction customers benefit from our own asphalt mix production with several plants: this gives us unlimited access to asphalt, an important building material in road construction.

PORR has been active in Slovakia since 1991. In 2010, it merged with TEERAG-ASDAG Slovakia to form a group company – since then, PORR has been operating in Slovakia under the name PORR s.r.o.

PORR offers all the construction services of a full-service provider for large-scale projects in Slovakia. In building construction, our portfolio is characterised by general contractor projects such as shopping centres, office and company buildings, and DIY stores.

In civil engineering, we focus on large-scale infrastructure projects in road, bridge, railway and power plant construction, which we offer and execute for both public and private clients. PPP projects are another cornerstone of our business.

PORR Construct S.R.L. was founded in 2004 and offers its services throughout Romania. The location is also of particular importance to the Group due to local stone, gravel and landfill resources.

PORR Construct S.R.L. has its headquarters in Bucharest and another branch in Timișoara. It is primarily active in building construction, civil engineering and infrastructure construction. As a full-service provider, we offer everything from planning to implementation of small to large construction projects from a single source.

Our service portfolio includes roads, sewage treatment plants, landfills and canals for small municipalities, as well as airports, large residential construction projects, hospitals and sports facilities.

PORR has been represented in Norway since 2012 and has been operating under the name PNC Norge AS since 2016. Following the acquisition of Bilfinger Infrastructure in Poland in 2015, Norway is now one of PORR's project markets. In these markets, we present ourselves with our premium products in the infrastructure sector – from bridge and tunnel construction to road and rail construction.

In our projects, we rely on close cooperation with strong local partners. From our branch in Oslo, we are also exploring the expansion of our market presence in Denmark and Sweden.
 

PORR has been represented in the United Kingdom since April 2016 with a branch office in London. Our strategic target markets in the United Kingdom are tunnel construction projects and the supply and installation of the SlabTrack Austria (STA) system. Our expertise in these specialist areas sets us apart from our competitors.

Our presence in the United Kingdom led to a successful contract award by the British network operator National Grid for the construction of the Feeder 9 gas replacement pipeline – a steel pipeline with a diameter of 1,200 mm, which will be installed in a tunnel with a diameter of 4 m under the River Humber near Hull.

In strategic partnerships with established British civil engineering companies, the British tunnel construction project pipeline currently offers numerous opportunities for a wide range of projects for motorway, railway and energy supply companies, varying in scope and volume.

The construction of the British high-speed rail link (HS2) in phase 1 from London to Birmingham and then in phase 2B to Manchester and Leeds represents a significant opportunity for PORR UK to manufacture, supply and install our unique STA system.

PORR has had a branch office in Doha City since 2011. Together with our local partners, we are entrusted with the implementation of the country's most important infrastructure projects, including the construction of the Doha Metro and Al Wakrah Stadium, the central venue for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

In 2012, we achieved the largest acquisition in our company's history with the Green Line of the Doha Metro. Since then, PORR has established itself as one of the most renowned international construction companies in the region. This success is based on strategic partnerships with local companies and our extensive technical expertise in the infrastructure sector.
