A9 Klaus tunnel chain

Molln, Austria /

In the course of the completion of the A9 Pyhrn motorway, a second tunnel tube was created in the area of the Klaus tunnel chain. In this project, ÖBA was commissioned with the creation of approximately 45,000 m² of concrete slab roadways. Before the concrete slab was installed, a kerbstone with a length of about 4.5 km was constructed using the slip-form technique.

Logistics as a special challenge.

A special challenge lay in the transportation of the necessary concrete to the construction site.

After all, the two project units consisted of a total of four tunnels with only three access possibilities. Due to the strict time pressure, many of the companies commissioned with the project had to work in the tunnels at the same time. This made logistics significantly more difficult. Despite these conditions and the strict time pressure, the project was carried out at an excellent level of quality and without defects.
