Preliminary figures for 2013: PORR generates strong growth in production output, order backlog and order bookings

Vienna, 27 February 2014 – The 2013 business year was highly successful for Austrian construction group PORR. Preliminary figures show that PORR generated production output of EUR 3,439m, representing an increase of 19.0% or EUR 548m against 2012. In addition to the solid development of the home markets of Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Poland, one of the main drivers behind this significant growth was infrastructure – a core competency for the Group.

With an order backlog of EUR 4,591m PORR also succeeded in topping the high level of the previous year’s order books, with a rise of 36.1% or EUR 1,217m. This represents an all-time high. The DACH region and the infrastructure sector were mainly responsible for this growth, with major acquisitions in Qatar and in Austrian tunnelling.

Order bookings amounted to EUR 4,656m at December 31st 2013, an increase of 33.0% or EUR 1,156m. The largest tenders acquired in 2013 were the Green Line of the Doha metro in Qatar, Koralm Tunnel KAT 3 in Austria, the Emscher Canal consortium BA 40 in Germany, the Rudolfsheim care home in Vienna, the LK 132 Blotnica–Opole railway line in Poland and various building construction projects.

Strategic focus on home markets continues
One key factor in PORR’s strong performance has been the strategic decision to focus on the stable and attractive home markets, which offer high planning reliability and the best credit standing. Another focal point is gradually expanding the infrastructure business on international markets in a targeted manner.

At this point in time, the Executive Board expects this positive growth to be reflected in a rise in EBT (earnings before taxes). The full consolidated financial statements for 2013 and the 2013 Annual Report will be published on April 8th 2014 and made available on the PORR website.
