Wind Farm Corni

Corni, Galati County, Romania / 11.2011 - 07.2012

The Wind Farm Corni is located in the northeast of Romania and includes 35 wind turbine generators with a total output of 70MW.

PORR’s scope of work included building 20km of access roads for heavy machinery, the complete water drainage system and 35 crane pads to be used for the turbines’ erection. Furthermore, the reinforced concrete foundations were built, including the installation of around 2,000 pieces of precast concrete-driven piles for 35 wind turbine generators, so-called WTGs.

Special sites call for special measures.

To ensure a continuous concrete supply flux with the same permanent quality, it was necessary to install an extra concrete plant on-site. Another special challenge was posed by the ground conditions in the construction field. The construction team solved this issue by using different lengths from 12 to 20m and different numbers of concrete-driven piles.

What ultimately counts in the construction business is successfully completed projects. PORR has many of these.
