Secondary school building on Torquato Tasso Strasse

Munich, Germany / 10.2022 - 05.2024

On the school grounds at Torquato-Tasso-Straße 38 in the Milbertshofen district of Munich, a new elementary and middle school building was constructed, including an underground parking garage and basement. In addition, a central wing was built that incorporates a cafeteria on the ground floor, a swimming pool and a two-court gymnasium on the first floor, and an all-weather sports field on the roof. PORR Building Construction Region South carried out the structural work for the first construction phase.

Visualisation of the building. In the centre of the picture is the central building with the future sports facilities and swimming pool as well as the canteen. To the left is the primary school with a ground floor and two storeys, and to the right is the secondary school, also with a ground floor and two upper storeys. The buildings are surrounded by green spaces. At the front of the picture is a footpath as well as a red sports field.

The ground floor connects the units and enables internal access

The design by Braun Architekten divided the project into three building structures (elementary school, central building with sports facilities, middle school), which are grouped around central recess areas. The ground floor serves as a connecting element: it links the units, creates internal access routes, and enables clear identification of each section through separate entrances. PORR Hochbau Region South was responsible for the central building and the east wing.

In the middle school construction phase, a key focus was on the ceiling above the ground floor as well as the surrounding cast-in-place concrete balconies. Their construction depended, among other things, on sheet pile installation and sewer work and required closely coordinated interface management to maintain a stable construction schedule.

Despite restricted access roads and limited storage and maneuvering areas, construction site logistics were reliably managed through the coordinated collaboration of project and site management, structural trades, equipment operations, and logistics.

Focus on Meeting Deadlines and Construction Quality

With a construction period of 12 months, the client’s key requirements were adherence to deadlines and high quality achieved through stricter tolerances. PORR ensured this with an experienced, interdisciplinary team and thorough work planning.

Particularly challenging was the construction of escape balconies and staircases in exposed concrete, which are typically constructed using precast elements. Through precise planning, close coordination with the architect, and reliable collaboration with subcontractors, the work was completed on time and to the required quality standards.
