Restoration of Burgdorf market hall

Burgdorf, Switzerland / 10.2014 - 10.2015

In collaboration with architects, consultants and the Canton's heritage conservation office, PORR renovated and expanded the ageing reinforced concrete construction. The Burgdorf market hall was originally constructed in 1931-1932.

Leaky ceiling panels and windows, damaged concrete surfaces, outdated technical constructions and facilities were all updated or replaced within the space of a single year. Moreover, the expansion of the restaurant area was also included in PORR's work package. The demolition of the attached building, originally used as a barn, made way for an attractive square between the market hall and the Sägegasse gymnasium.
