New construction Gizenenbrücke

Muotathal SZ, Switzerland / 07.2020 - 05.2021

The Gizenenbrücke in Muotathal is a prestressed frame bridge with a span of 31.8m. The poor condition of the concrete arch bridge, built in 1910, made a new construction inevitable. It was built directly on the site of the old bridge. During construction, an provisional bridge served as a temporary replacement.

The works to be carried out in this bridge construction project were on the one hand the sewer pipe works and bank protection and on the other hand the concreting of the bridge slab and the edges. Due to the deep bed of the river Muota and the poor subsoil below the sedimentation, a deep foundation with bored piles for load transfer via skin friction was required for execution.

To ensure the flood safety of the construction site, the falsework was mounted on top and the formwork was suspended.
