M6 Motorway Dunaújváros–Szekszárd

Dunaújváros–Szekszárd, Hungary / 07.2008 - 03.2010

In July 2008, in the framework of a bidder consortium, PORR was awarded the contract for the financing, design and construction of the M6 Motorway section between Dunaújváros and Szekszárd including its operation and maintenance for a period of 30 years. The project was implemented in the form of a public-private partnership model – until then, one of the largest PPP projects in Hungary.

The contract section included a some 65km-long, two-lane dual carriageway motorway section as well as 58 bridges, among which two large bridges, eight junctions, four motorway services and a building for the O&M Centre. PORR’s services consisted of road construction, asphalt laying, civil engineering and bridge construction. With this project, PORR once more underlined its positioning as a full-service provider serving as a one-stop-shop for complex infrastructure projects, perfectly implementing all tasks.

Diverse services to be completed on tight schedule.

The tight schedule thereby posed a tough challenge: From the signing of the licence and financing agreements, this large-scale project needed to be completed in a mere 20 months. And we did so successfully: The section was ceremoniously opened for traffic on schedule.

What ultimately counts in the construction business is successfully completed projects. PORR has many of these.
