Lohmann & Rauscher – Production plant extension

PORR constructed a new production plant in Slavkov u Brna for medical manufacturer Lohmann & Rauscher. This new location will enable the firm to significantly increase production. The manufacture of medical products requires a high degree of air purity in the production areas. The entire production zone, or "blue area", must maintain consistently positive air pressure. In the acceptance area for completed products, the "green zone", high purity guidelines also apply. Hygienic locks between areas ensure these standards are maintained throughout the entire flow of personnel and material traffic. An individual production room has been specifically created for the heat bath sterilisation of surgical instruments.

An ultra-modern production site for medical items.
The production hall is connected to two pre-existing warehouses: the component storage unit and high-bay warehouse. The component storage unit measures 4m in height and is used to store parts intended for use in the production of completed sets. The high-bay storage area is 11m high and is predominately used for packaging materials and semi-finished products such as cotton fleece and packaging film. The high-bay storage warehouse has a capacity of 3,910 pallets on five levels. The contract also included the reconstruction of staff rooms. All construction works were carried out alongside ongoing production.
The entire roof system was renovated as part of this project, including the thermal insulation and moisture sealing as well as all plumbing elements. ROCKWOOL mineral wool was used for thermal insulation and sealing foil was installed to protect against humidity.
What ultimately counts in the construction business is successfully completed projects. PORR has many of these.
