K2 Gotthardstrasse - repair works on bridge Intschialpbach

Intschi UR, Switzerland / 10.2018 - 06.2020

As part of the K2 Gotthard road Amsteg - Göschenen, the natural stone arch bridge with a span of 21 m crosses the Intschialpbach. The cavities were filled in as early as 2015, the natural stone masonry was re-grouted and the arch soffit cleaned. In addition, the roadway was now widened with a new, 6.20 m wide roadway slab made of in-situ concrete. As this also serves as a sealing support, the construction was carried out with epoxy resin sealing and polymer bitumen sealing sheeting.

Natural stone arch bridge with historical background.

Rock stabilisation on the 200-year-old bridge was also part of the contract. The underwater shield wall and the wing wall on the Amsteg side were built in advance. Rock removal, rock drilling and the relocation of anchors and micropiles were carried out on the suspended rope.

What ultimately counts in the construction business is successfully completed projects. PORR has many of these.
