Diaphragm wall in the steelworks

Linz, Austria / 07.2015 - 10.2015

In the area of the CC8 continuous casting plant at the voestalpine steelworks in Linz, an 80cm-thick diaphragm wall with deep foundations was to be installed down to a depth of up to 19m. The jet grouting method was used to create the deep foundations in the area of the gantry crane supports. In total, PORR installed some 4,500m² of diaphragm wall using heavily reinforced cages with an overall weight of 455t (up to 220kg/m²).

Firmly founded in the soil ...

One of this project’s greatest challenges lay in the fact that trenching had to take place at restricted heights in the plant/industrial production area.

What ultimately counts in the construction business is successfully completed projects. PORR has many of these.
