Chrutacher bridge over the Waldemme, Flühli

Flühli, Switzerland / 04.2017 - 04.2018

Increased capacity and improved traffic safety were the main aims of this bridge renovation project, awarded by the Office of Traffic and Infrastructure Construction, Lucerne Canton. The dilapidated round arch bridge, made from natural stone, no longer met current construction standards. Accordingly, it had to be demolished and replaced with a modern reinforced concrete bridge which would satisfy current requirements and standards.

Replacement of an ageing bridge.

The renewed section of the canton route K36, running Schüpfheim–Flühli–Sörenberg, measures around 250m. The more than 50m-long and 12m-wide concrete bridge had to be completely manufactured on site: abutments were constructed, the shoring erected and the bridge substructure formed. After reinforcement and tension cables had been laid, 560m3 of concrete was poured in a single cast.

What ultimately counts in the construction business is successfully completed projects. PORR has many of these.
