Concrete slab construction

project unit 05
A5 Weinviertel motorway

Lower Austria, Austria /

In this project, ÖBA was commissioned with soil improvements over an area of more than 1 million m² and the manufacture of a base course stabilised with cement (BC-C) on approximately 164.000 m². The works were implemented using the in-place mixing technique.

Für eine stabile Basis.

Over the course of the soil improvements, ÖBA installed a total of 10,000 t of chalk-cement mixture with a performance of 10,000 m² per workday and a cutting depth of 30 cm. The BC-C was carried out with a cutting depth of 20 cm on an area of 164,000 m².

In the process, 4,250 t of cement were processed. The work performance was 9,000 m² per working day.

Due to the less than ideal grain size distribution of the material to be stabilised, compliance with the short construction time was a particularly enormous challenge. For this reason, ÖBA used two recyclers at the same time. For this to work, the deliveries of the binding material had to be organised precisely – another challenge that the ÖBA team mastered perfectly in this extensive project.
