Weitendorf gas compression station

Natural gas from Russia reaches Austria via the Trans-Austria Gas Pipeline System and is transported from here to Italy, Slovenia and Croatia. Two new compressor stations were built to carry the growing demand for energy markets and to increase the capacity of the gas line. On behalf of the company Ghizzoni, PORR implemented the civil engineering work for the new gas compressor station in Weitendorf bei Graz.

The works started with large-area earthworks in July 2008. Extensive parts of the floor had to be replaced and filled with lean concrete under the foundation due to bad geological conditions; cable ducts and pipelines also had to be excavated. After completion of earthworks and the refilling of the excavation and pipe trenches, the access and feeder roads were built and the terrain secured with gravel or asphalt surface.
