Classical elegance at Donau City

Designed by Neumann+Partner, the new Ares Tower in Vienna’s 22nd district consists of four basement floors, one of which is located in the ground water area, and 25 upper floors. This makes it one of the tallest buildings in Vienna. The tower’s ground area amounts to some 1,800m². The 6,600m² lot on which it stands is completely built over with parking levels and HVACR systems areas.

It was founded on a combined plate and pile construction with a compacted gravel body. Due to the specified construction time, the standard floors’ carcass had to be erected in weekly cycles, a challenge that was overcome using a formwork system consisting of slab tables and large wall formwork, yet without the use of self-climbing or glide systems. On the client’s order, the façade was executed double-walled and in accordance with fire protection class W 90.

The offices’ above-average equipment level provides high levels of comfort and flexibility. The rooms, for instance, can be divided and were elaborately designed, partly on the basis of special wishes. They are cooled via the ceiling, whereby lighting, heating, cooling and sun protection are controlled via room control units fed by LON bus systems.
